Electronic Poker is a popular game that usually will be played in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your PC, through an Internet account. The regulations are very simple and involve the player trying to achieve the greatest mixture of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, without the line of contact with other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be "handed out" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the gambler has chosen which cards he wishes to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful players are able to pick the most beneficial game every time.

After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the gambler a chance to double their winnings, in which instance a further game is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
